OCS to Remain in Hybrid Learning - October 18–22

  • Owyhee Combined School will remain in hybrid for this week, October 18–22, 2021. There will not be any interruption to homecoming activities. The Shoshone-Paiute Tribal council would like to remind everyone to stay masked, practice frequent hand washing and sanitizing, and to implement physical distancing whenever possible.  Decisions regarding future weeks will be on a week-to-week basis with the decisions made Friday mornings in consultation with the Shoshone-Paiute Tribal Council and Emergency Operations Center.

Picture Day

  • Picture day is Tuesday, October 19. Image Portrait Studios will be taking student pictures this year. Pictures will begin at 9:40 a.m. with the pre-k/kindergarten class. 

Native Aspirations Career Planning Meeting

  • Lucy Pitto and Morgen Thacker will be on campus to meet with students on Tuesday, October 19. They will hold virtual meetings for B-day students.
    • 9:00 a.m. seniors and sophomores
    • 9:50 a.m. juniors and freshmen

FAFSA Night Rescheduled

  • The Owyhee High School FAFSA night originally scheduled for this Wednesday, October 20, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. is now on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, due to homecoming activities.

Great ShakeOut

  • Get ready to shake it like it’s real at ShakeOut 2021. Owyhee Combined School will participate in the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill at 10:21 a.m.on Thursday, October 21, 2021. During the drill, participants practice “Drop! Cover! and Hold On!”

Candy Grams

  • Owyhee High’s junior class is selling ghostly candy grams for one dollar each. The last day to order is Wednesday, October 27, and they will deliver the grams on Thursday, October 28. Please find a junior to purchase a gram: Xavier, Lenso, Jacob, Lilli, Mattie, Tziavi, Danina, David, Royce, Angel, Marley, Kaden, Josiah, Kailey, Misty, or Marina.

#BravesNation Stickers

  • The OHS cheerleaders are selling #BravesNation stickers for five dollars each. Please see cheer coach Raquel Black. Support your cheerleaders!

        Sign Up for Driver Ed at Great Basin College

        • Sign up for online driver's education at Great Basin College! New classes begin October 4 and November 3. Each class meets the DMV requirement for 30 hours of driver education. Call (775) 327-5300 or enroll online by visiting the Great Basin College website. The class fee is $75.00.

        Jr. High Basketball Practice

        • Jr. High basketball practice will be Monday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the gym. Game dates: October 23, 2021, November 6, 2021, November 13, 2021, and November 20, 2021 – full schedule coming soon!

        Jr. High Basketball Games Saturday

        • Our Boys and Girls Jr. High Basketball teams will travel to Elko, NV this Saturday, October 23, 2021, with games being played at Adobe Middle School. All games times are Pacific Standard Time. Go Owyhee!
          • Game Schedule:
            • Girls -  8:00 a.m. vs. AMS 2 - small gym
            • Girls – noon vs. AMS 3 - big gym
            • Boys- 9:00 a.m. vs. AMS 2 - big gym
            • Boys: 11:00 a.m. vs. AMS 1 - small gym
            • Boys: 1:00 p.m. vs. AMS 3 - small gym

        OHS Cross Country at Spring Creek - Thursday

        • On Thursday, October 21, 2021, our high school cross country teams will compete in a meet at the Spring Creek Golf Course in Spring Creek, NV. Race times to be announced. Come and support our runners!

        Last Home Games for OHS Volleyball & Football

        • On Saturday, October 23 the high school volleyball team and football team will compete against the Carlin Railroaders. The volleyball game will begin at 11:00 a.m. (MST). The football game will begin at 2:00 p.m. (MST). Come and support our teams!

        OHS Volleyball at McDermitt Friday

        • The varsity volleyball team will travel to McDermitt on Friday, October 22, 2021, to compete against the McDermitt Bulldogs on their home court at 3:00 p.m. (PST).

        Wild West Homecoming 2021

        • Homecoming festivities will be held October 18 through 23 against the Carlin Railroaders. We invite the community to dress up and participate in the parade.
        • Monday, October 18
          Dress Up Day: Ranch Hand Day- Wear your hat and boots and be ready to work.
          Lunch Time Game: Steer Roping
          6:00 p.m. Powder Puff Football (12th,10th, and 7th grade vs. 11th, 9th, and 8th grades). Upon entry OHS StuCo will be accepting donations for the NonProfit of Choice: Native American Rights Fund.

          Dress Up Day: Rhinestone Cowboy Day- Dress to impress (Picture Day)
          Lunch Time Game: Bronc Riding
          OHS StuCo’s Community Clean Up (Collect Bonfire lumber). If you have unwanted scrap wood, lumber, tree branches, etc. please submit your name and location to chernandez@ecsdnv.net, The wood will be used at the bonfire. This is a community service project. Wood must be siting freely. We will not be using saws or axes. Please tie up any animals that may interfere with our clean up process.

          Dress Up Day: Neon Moon – Wear your class color: Twelfth blue, eleventh white, tenth red, ninth orange, eighth green, seventh pink, elementary neon, and teachers yellow. Community wears purple.

          2:00 p.m. Seventh through twelfth grade assembly featuring motivational speaker Mylo Smith.
