International Science & Engineering Fair Results

  • Congratulations to Tziavi Melendez on receiving a $10,000 scholarship offer (renewable up to four years) from the University of Arizona to continue her studies on the use of traditional native plants for medicinal uses, specifically treating lung cancer cells and bacteria. Tziavi did an outstanding job in presenting her findings at the International Science & Engineering Fair in Atlanta, GA earlier this month. 

          Elko County School District Art Show – Congratulations Mikayla Gibson!

          • Owyhee Combined School had students in seventh through twelfth grade enter their artwork in the Elko County School District Art Show with the artwork displayed at the Northeastern Nevada Museum in Elko, Nevada. Congratulations to Mikayla Gibson who received a first-place ribbon for her ceramic mask.

          OHS Track – 2022 Nevada Track and Field State Championships Results

          • Congratulations to our OHS Track Team and coaches on a great season!
            • Owyhee High School - 1A Girls Academic Team - Third Place with a 3.24 GPA
            • Mattisen Jones - First Place Girls Discus - 1A State Champion

            Popcorn Thursday 

            • OHS student council's Popcorn Thursday is back! Popcorn is $1.00 and is available in the east lobby from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Thursday.

            Sweet Sentiments for our 2022 Graduates!

            • Starting May 16, you may order Tootsie Pop bouquets from any tenth-grade student or Mrs. Juceam to show your favorite graduates how much you love and appreciate them. Bouquets include four Tootsie Pops presented as a bouquet and a card printed with your good wishes. Bouquets go out on May 31 and cost $5.00 each.

              Class of 2022 Parade

              • A parade celebrating the class of 2022 will take place on Friday, June 3.

              Athletics Awards Night

              • Athletics Awards Night will take place on Monday, June 6, 2022.

              Final Exams

              • Final Exams will take place on Monday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 7 with final make-ups held on Wednesday, May 8.

              Elementary Field Day

              • The Owyhee Student Council will hold the Owyhee Elementary Field Day on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on the OHS Football Field. Please make sure your child has sunscreen, a water bottle, and closed-toe shoes. Please note times vary according to class lunch time.

                • Sixth Grade: Red

              Senior Walk

              • Bid farewell to the class of 2022 as they take their last walk down the hall as OHS students on Thursday, June 9, 2022. Classes and guests may line the hallways of the main building.

              OHS Graduation

              • Graduation for the class of 2022 is on Friday, June 10 at 6:00 p.m. in the Kenneth Crawford Gymnasium. Congratulations, graduates!

              Summer School

              • Summer school will begin on Monday, June 13, and will end Thursday, July 28. Summer school is free of charge and will take place in person on campus. Students participating in summer school must be on campus Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to noon. There are no exceptions.               F.L.E.A.T. - Future Law Enforcement Academy Training - 5-day camp

              • The fourth annual F.L.E.A.T. Academy is ready to kick off the summer from June 20 through June 25, 2022. This is an academy for youth aged thirteen through eighteen years of age who have an interest in law enforcement. It’s their chance to see all aspects of what your local law enforcement does. Classes include firearm safety, self-defense training, bomb squad, SWAT, traffic enforcement, less-lethal weapons demonstrations, and much more. For more information call Sgt. Ana Bribiesca (775) 397-7014. Sign up now as only 50 openings are available. The cost is $100.00 per participant. Scholarships are available. 

              Driver Education at Great Basin College

              • Great Basin College is offering a summer driver education course starting June 14! This course meets the Nevada DMV requirement for 30 hours of driver education for anyone under 18 getting their license. The cost is $75.00 and students may register by calling (775) 327-5300 or enrolling online.

              Native Youth College Camp

              • An in-person Native Youth Camp will take place at the University of Nevada - Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 23 through 25! Registration for Native Youth College Camp is free to all Native American students across Nevada. Space is limited for students in seventh through twelfth grade. Register as soon as possible to reserve your spot.
