Baseball Recap: Wells Leopards vs. Liberty Baptist Academy Knights
By Team Reports
May 15, 2025, 8:46 pm
Wells had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They skirted past the Liberty Baptist Academy Knights 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Leopards have posted since April 15th.
Wells' win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Luis Garcia, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
The victory made it two in a row for Wells and bumps their season record up to 28-6. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 16-4 Smith Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 76.5% over those games). As for Liberty Baptist Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-7 record this season.
Wells and Liberty Baptist Academy are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Leopards will take on Indian Springs at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The Thunderbirds will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Wells surely won't give up without a fight.
Baseball Recap: Wells Leopards vs. Smith Valley Bulldogs
By Team Reports
May 16, 2025, 7:38 pm
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wells can now relate to. They fell 9-5 to the Smith Valley Bulldogs on Friday. The Leopards were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 7-4.
Charley Peterson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
This is the second loss in a row for Wells and nudges their season record down to 28-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 22-5 Indian Springs (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 79.9% over those games). As for Smith Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-5.
