We’ll check athletes’ grades every week to verify they are eligible for athletic participation. We’ll check for Ds and Fs on Monday after each weekend and will notify students that day if they are ineligible. Any student with a grade below a C will have until Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. to get their grades above a D. Any student who has a D or F after Wednesday afternoon will not be eligible to play that weekend of competition. Parents and students can check student grades through the Infinite Campus portal any time to verify one’s academic standing.
We perform a baseline test before the sports season begins and send it to the Sports Concussion Specialists of Nevada. If an athlete gets a concussion at any time during the year, they must take a second test to be cleared to return to athletic competition. There is a yearly $5 fee per student for this service.
OCS sports teams participate in the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA). After much consultation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the association has agreed on the athletics schedule for the year.
