The Magical World of Homecoming
Owyhee Braves Homecoming festivities are always jam-packed, fun and exciting. The Student Council and advisor Chrystyna Hernandez worked hard to put on the best events. Dress up days included Prince/Princess Switch, Sleeping Beauty (PJ Day), Wear anything Disney, Mickey v. Minnie and Braves White-Out.
Monday saw students decked out in royal gear. The after school activity was hallway and float decorating and students worked to create their movie theme. Some of the themes were CoCo and Moana.
Sleeping Beauty/PJ Day was the theme on Tuesday. Students enjoyed being dressed in comfy pjs that day. In the evening, the annual He-Man Volleyball game showcased the skills our boys have when playing volleyball.
Wednesday was Disney Day and it was the girls’ chance to show off their skills in a game of Powder Puff football. The weather was a perfect fall day for a football game. Earlier in the day, the 8th grade rep won the lunch time game of musical chairs.
Thursday was Minnie v. Mickey and it was the night of the annual bonfire. In the evening, students, staff and community members gathered at the firepit to participate in the bonfire. Students participated in games and cheers.
Friday’s dress was Braves White-Out and the Lady Braves volleyball team faced off against Eureka. Although they played hard, the Lady Braves lost the match 0-3. A junior high semi-formal dance took place in the evening and the junior high students had a great time dancing.
Saturday was another Braves White-Out and the Braves football team played against Sierra Lutheran. The parade was at noon and the game started at 2 PM. Royalty was crowned and the king and queen were seniors Santino Thomas and Makenna Thorpe. Their court consisted of Myles Allison & Monica Pimentel, and Rain O’Dell & Mountain Spring Walker. The prince and princess were freshmen Hunter Smartt and Sierra Garity and their court was Noah Johnson & Hubia Abel, and Ashton Prior & Harli Leyva.
