Fall Seniors and families

Fall 2023 Senior Recognition

Seven senior volleyball players plus the manager and four football senior players were recognized at the final home games on October 21. The volleyball team seniors are Taylor Blossom, Monica Pimentel, Lacy Roa, Shirlena Roa-Martinez, Cienna Thacker, Makenna Thorpe, Mountain Spring Walker and manager, Jaren Pete. The football senior-athletes are Myles Allison, Dishaun George-Smith, Robert Gibson and Bisaapi Melendez.

The honor and recognition began with the volleyball team as the players, escorted by their families, listened to comments and messages of gratitude, most eliciting tears and emotional responses. One of the things the players will miss are the trips when playing away games. They are grateful for the support and encouragement of their family, friends and community. The Lady Braves went on to defeat their opponents, the Lund Lady Mustangs 3 games to 1. Games 1 and 2 ended with the Lady Braves on top with scores of 25-16 both games. The 3rd game was very intense with an ending score of 24-26. The Lady Braves put it away in game 4 with a score of 25-10.

The football seniors were honored and recognized before their game, also escorted by their families. With a few snafus, the team members had a variety of messages, some funny and some more heartfelt. The team also will miss the travel to away games. If they could go back and start again the players would study and do more in class. The Braves had a somewhat slow start against the Wells Leopards with a half-time score of 8-38. The last two minutes of the game thrilled OHS fans as the Braves had the ball with a score of 44-50. With the Braves unable to make the touchdown, the Leopards made one final fight to the finish and beat our Braves 44-56.

Braves Senior Recognition were special events to pay tribute to our players for their last home games as Owyhee Braves. Both the volleyball and football games were ones to remember.
