Tayven receiving a Math award

Semester Academic Awards

The Owyhee Combined School recently held semester (or second nine-week) awards assemblies. Students in grades Kindergarten through twelfth attended and were pleased to receive awards for their accomplishments. Many parents and other distinguished guests attended the ceremony on what was a terrifically snowy morning.

Elementary students accepted awards in reading, math and citizenship. They also received awards from Art, Library and Physical Education. They are currently completing MAP assessments and many classes will be celebrating success for students in raising scores and skill levels.

Secondary students received awards in Math, Science, Home Economics, Art and Science. Hope Squad members received recognition from Advisor Shana Thomas for their efforts and community service during the first semester. Amelia Scissons, Home Ec. teacher gave special acknowledgement to Lacy Roa for her sewing and craftsmanship. She said, “Lacy sewed a quilt by hand and it looks amazing!” Scissons’ sewing classes have completed a community service project and are currently working on finishing pillows for the local day care center. The classes are designing and creating ribbon skirts and shirts. Sherry Crutcher gave high praise to her students as they did great and finished online and Edgenuity classes.

Attendance and honor roll will be available soon. Great job to our students and staff for a successful first semester.
