What a day to remember for students from Owyhee Combined School, located on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation!
The Las Vegas Raiders rolled out the red carpet for the Owyhee High School football team, who proudly represent the Shoshone-Paiute Tribe. Students had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet professional football players, coaches, tour Allegiant Stadium and the Intermountain Health Performance Center, and learn what it takes to play at the highest level.
As part of Nike’s N7 program—which partners with Indigenous communities across North America—the team received a special surprise: brand-new football uniforms, gifted through a Nike grant designed to support and celebrate Native youth.
To finish their amazing experience, the students attended the Monday Night Football game between the Raiders and the Chargers, soaking in the excitement of a live NFL matchup.
"The Owyhee High School football team would like to thank the Las Vegas Raiders for this once-in-a-lifetime experience that will undoubtedly remain in the hearts and minds of our students and community for years to come," said Owyhee Combined Principal Lynn Manning John. "The Las Vegas Raiders are a class act."
