Braves Senior Night - Volleyball and Cross Country

Braves Senior Night for Owyhee’s volleyball and cross country seniors was held October 18. Aleeyah Knight and Angelina Mason were honored before the start of the Owyhee-Lund volleyball game. It was the final home game of the season for the Lady Braves.

Aleeyah Knight is a four-year Middle Blocker/Outside Hitter for the Braves. Her guardians are Dora Sims and Mario Lundy and parents are Darwina Sims and Arsen Knight. Her proudest moment is beating the Lady Bulldogs at home in 5 games after losing to McDermitt away. Aleeyah said her biggest fans are her aunt and uncle and late grandma Lorraine Sims.

Aleeyah’s words of appreciation: “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my family, who have consistently been there for me whenever I needed them. To my incredible friends Carmen, Sierra, and Carrin; thank you for always having my back and supporting me through every up and down. I appreciate your honesty and constructive criticism, even when it wasn't easy to hear. I'm also thankful for Kyndra Thomas, Ryan Carpenter, Ms. Dann, and Mr. Strong, and all my coaches for their support and guidance throughout my high school career.”

Aleeyah plans to go to the University of Nevada Reno and study sports medicine. The team will face Lund at regional finals this weekend.

This year, Angelina Mason decided to join the cross country team. Her parents are Erica Thomas and Lucas Mason. Angelina is proud of getting good grades and her favorite memory is getting to go on trips with friends.

Her biggest fans are my family. My family because they try their best to support me and they help me not to quit. Angelina said, “I'd like to thank all of my family, my friends, all of the coaches I've had, and people in the community who cheered me on.”

Angelina plans to go to college but is not sure where yet. She will run at the regional finals in Reno this weekend.

Both seniors advise their teammates to enjoy their time at school because it goes by really fast. Good luck to our seniors as they finish their fall seasons.
